Peter K Timms CBE Peter Timms lives on the Isle of Bute and has been Chairman and Managing Director of Flexible Technology Ltd, a company based in Rothesay, since 1981, and is a Non-Executive Director and Chairman of Schroder UK Mid & Small Cap Fund plc. He previously worked at senior management level in AFA-Minerva (Thorn-EMI) Ltd in London and in IBM (UK) Ltd in Greenock. He has previously served as a Member of the Scottish Industrial Development Advisory Board, a member of the Highlands and Islands Enterprise Board, a Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Argyll & the Islands Enterprise Company Ltd and of Murray VCT3 plc. He is also a Non-Executive Director and Chairman of associated companies NorthLink Ferries Ltd, and NorthLink Orkney & Shetland Ferries Ltd. He was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Caledonian MacBrayne in July 2000 and became Chairman in August 2006.
Philip Preston Philip Preston was appointed Managing Director in April 2009. He is a Chartered Engineer,a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a fellow of the Institution of Engineers and Shipbuilders in Scotland. He joined the Company in 1993 and latterly held the post of Operations Director.
Ian Gillies Non-Executive Director Ian Gillies is an Estate Factor and former Councillor for Tiree and Coll on Argyll & Bute Council. He also hold several public sector posts representing island interests and is a past Chairman of the Shipping Services Advisory Committee (South). Being based on Tiree, Mr Gillies has strong local knowledge of the issues affecting island communities and the important role CalMac has to play in maintaining a lifeline ferry service. He is Chair of the Scottish Islands Federation which promotes, publicises and advances the awareness of Scotland's Islands. He was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Caledonian MacBrayne Ltd. in May 2006.
Alexander M Lynch MBE Alex Lynch is group Finance Director. Formerly Finance Director and Deputy Managing Director of ScotRail, he has extensive board and business management skills gained within the public and private rail industry. As Franchise Development Director of ScotRail, he played a significant role in the creation, vesting and eventual franchising of ScotRail in the rail industry privatisation process. An associate member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and a member of the Institute of Logistics and Transport, he is responsible for financial strategy and planning, information technology, accounting and budgetary controls, statutory compliance and purchasing. He is a Non-Executive Director of NorthLink Ferries Ltd.
Lorne Macleod Non-Executive Director Lorne Macleod is a Chartered Accountant by profession, an independent business consultant and a director of a Skye-based retail and distribution company. He is also Chair of the Highlands & Islands Community Energy Compant Limited and, until October 2005, was a member of the Scottish Further Education Funding Council. He currently lives in Oban, but has lived and worked throughout the Highlands & Islands area. He retains an interest in a number of island issues through his role as Director of the Isle of Gigha Heritage Trust. He was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of the Company in May 2006.
David McGibbon Non-Executive Director David McGibbon is a qualified accountant and an independent business consultant. He served as Chairman of the London Stock Exchange, Scottish Council from 1998-2001. He has worked in both the public and private sectors and is a former Finance Director and Company Secretary of Grampian Holdings plc, the then parent company of the Malcolm Group (WH Malcolm). He was appointed as a Non-Executive Director to the Board of Historic Scotland in January 2005 and currently Chairs the Board's Audit Committee. He was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of the Company in May 2006.
Norman Quirk Non Executive Director Norman Quirk lives on the island of Mull, and is a Chartered Accountant. He is the former Managing Director of Saga Radio in Scotland, and previously held senior positions in several other radio broadcasting organisations in Scotland. He is also the Chair of the Scottish Chambers of Commerce, the immediate past President of the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, Glasgow Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow. He is a Director of Mull Theatre and the former Executive Director and Vice Chair of Scottish Ballet.
George Taylor Non-Executive Director As group Technical Director, George is committed to achieving the highest levels of safety, reliability and environmental standards on the vessels and helping to deliver our commitment under CHFS. George looks forward to strengthening relationships with seagoing and port staff, together with everybody in support services.
Robert Sinclair Robert Sinclair has been the Principal of Banff and Buchan College of Further Education since August 2000. He has also worked as a Master Mariner and as a Platform Manager with Treasure Petroleum Services, and as Principal of the North Atlantic Fisheries College in Scalloway. He is also on the Board of the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses.
Primrose Stark Primrose Stark is currently a Non Executive Director of Competence Matters Ltd. and served as a Non Executive Director of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority between November 2004 and February 2009. She was also HR Director and a founder Director of First Engineering Ltd serving between 1996 and 2004, having been part of the successful management employee buy-out from British Rail. Between May 2006 and June 2007, she was a Business Transformation Consultant for Glasgow Housing Association.
Gordon McKenzie Company Secretary Gordon McKenzie has held the post of Company Secretary since January 1993. He is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. His responsibilities include corporate and legal issues, freedom of information compliance, property ownership and leasing arrangements.
