Update: Thursday 24th April p.m.The following response was made by John Swinney MSP in the Scottish Parliament when replying to Alasdair Allan MSP regarding the current issues on fuel supply for CalMac Ferries:
"As made clear, in my Statement Government will take steps to protect transport services. SG in regular touch with transport companies. As far as CalMac is concerned, its services are clearly essential. We are working closely with ferry operators to ensure adequate fuel is available to maintain ferry services."
CalMac is continuing to work with all the relevant agencies to ensure that we maximise the continuity of supply available to us and sees no need at this time to consider any other action than maintaining the current, published timetables.
