Caledonian MacBrayne report ferry good news for Gourock/Dunoon
11 June 2003

Ferry operator Caledonian MacBrayne has welcomed confirmation that the linkspan facility at Dunoon, which is owned and maintained by Argyll&Bute Council could be back in action around Saturday, June 21.

Caledonian MacBrayne is currently investigating ways in which the route can be marketed through promotional offers to reactivate the traffic which has been unable to use the facility.

Shirley Fraser, Route Manager for the upper Clyde services said: “The linkspan facility has been out of action since the end of March and this has been a major inconvenience for our customers. We are pleased that we would appear to be able to use the facility again in around a week’s time. We have been addressing the issues surrounding the reintroduction  of the service and will be in a position to confirm the details next week, when we have final confirmation of the date for the start of the service.”

Caledonian MacBrayne will be publicising details of the start of the service widely through local media and on the company’s web-site www.calmac.co.uk
