Caledonian MacBrayne report more ferry good news for Gourock/Dunoon
16 June 2003

Ferry operator Caledonian MacBrayne will resume carrying vehicles on the Gourock to Dunoon service from 1720hrs today (Monday, June 16, 2003).

To mark the reintroduction of the service, Caledonian MacBrayne will be offering free travel to all car drivers for a three-day period this weekend – on Sunday June 22, Monday June 23 and Tuesday, June 24. This offer applies to car drivers only and their vehicles will be charged at the usual rate.

CalMac is also extending the validity of 10-journey books of tickets for vehicles only. All books of tickets due to expire between March 30 and June 16, 2003 will be extended by three months.

Commercial customers and coach operators who have not been able to use the CalMac ferries while work was being done on the linkspan are now being contacted by the company to advise of the resumption of the service.

Shirley Fraser, Route Manager for the upper Clyde services said: “The linkspan facility has been out of action since the end of March and this has been a major inconvenience for our customers. We are pleased that we are able to get the facility back in action earlier than we had anticipated.  I would like to thank all our customers for their forbearance during this difficult period and we now look forward to return the service to normality as quickly as possible.”
