Ferry operator Caledonian MacBrayne has confirmed that a meeting is due to be held with RMT representatives on Wednesday (August 20), with a view to averting the latest call for industrial action.

Alasdair MacInnes, CalMac’s Human Resources Director, said: “Throughout the talks we have had with the RMT, our relationship with the local delegates and representatives has been conducted in good faith and it is not in anyone’s interests to misrepresent the outcome. Together, we will continue to focus all our efforts on the meeting which has been arranged with RMT national organiser Steve Todd on Wednesday, following his return from holiday.”

Cal Mac will be making no further comment on this issue until the talks have taken place.
