Caledonian MacBrayne confirms extra sailings for Bute Games
19 August 2003

Caledonian MacBrayne will be operating increased frequency through extra services, within the current timetable on the Wemyss Bay to Rothesay route for the period covering the weekend of Bute Highland Games (August 23) and the Island Motorcycle Invasion Rally.

Details of the extra sailings, which will be included within the current starting and finishing times of the timetable and will be operating on Friday (22nd), Saturday (23rd), Sunday (24th) and Monday (25th), are available from local offices at WemyssBay and Rothesay.

CalMac’s Upper Clyde Route Manager Shirley Fraser said: “I am pleased to be able to offer the increased frequency for what is one of our busiest weekends on WemyssBay to Rothesay during the year. Obviously, there will be greatly increased volumes of traffic and customers should make allowance for that in planning their travel schedules to and from the island. There may also be roadworks which could delay people trying to reach the ferries.  All we can ask is that everyone gets here as early as possible to avoid delays. I am sure that if we have the co-operation of all those travelling, then we can keep delays and disruption to a minimum.”

Caledonian MacBrayne is also supporting the Youth Athletics Events at Bute Highland Games through the provision of prizes.
