Caledonian MacBrayne Ceilidh to Craignure
10 October 2003

Caledonian MacBrayne, main commercial supporters of this year’s historic Royal National Mod, has confirmed the Jura ceilidh band as the featured musicians on the special “Ceilidh to Craignure,” next Wednesday (October 15, 2003). The event is expected to be one of the highlights of this year’s historic event.

Ian Fox, CalMac’s Oban-based Route Manager said: We will be offering a one-off buffet “Ceilidh to Craignure” sailing on the Wednesday evening of Mod week, on MV Isle of Mull, departing Oban at 2000, sailing to Mull and returning to Oban for 2215 – in plenty of time to carry on carousing for the later part of the evening. The Jura Ceilidh Band is guaranteed to keep everyone on their toes for the trip to Craignure and back and it’s very fitting that we should get the adult Mod off to a swinging start with a ceilidh and Buffet, with the added bonus of Oban’s magnificent late evening views as a bonus.”

Tickets for the “Ceilidh to Craignure,” priced £20 including the buffet, are available from the Tourshop at CalMac’s Oban office.  Copies of the 280-page Mod Programme are available, priced £5 per copy, from An Comunn Gaidhealach, the Mod Exhibition Centre in Oban, and the Gaelic Books Council in Glasgow.

Mod 2003 will open in Oban on Friday 10th October and will come to a close with the Massed Choirs performance on the morning of Saturday 18th October.
