Gaelic Festival secures Caledonian MacBrayne support
13 March 2006

Ferry company Caledonian MacBrayne Ltd has announced that it is to continue its support of the Royal National Mod for a fifth consecutive year. The Royal National Mod is Scotland’s premier Gaelic cultural festival and will this year take place in Dunoon from 13 – 21 October.

Caledonian MacBrayne first began supporting the Mod in Largs in 2002 and in 2004 won the Brand Identity category of the Arts & Business Scotland Awards in partnership with An Comunn Gaidhealach who co-ordinate the organisation of the nine day event. Many of the company’s employees are Gaelic speakers and regularly participate at the National Mod which was staged very successfully in the Western Isles last year.

Hugh Dan MacLennan said: “CalMac is delighted once again to be associated with one of Scotland's foremost cultural festivals, and in particular this year on our own doorstep. The Royal National Mod is very important event for us as a Company as many of our staff take part in different ways, whether it be as competitors or in supporting roles. The Gaelic language and cultural festivals are key components of our marketing strategy and we are delighted to be associated with such a successful event.”
