| Caledonian MacBrayne sets sail for 2006 Camanachd Cup Final | |
| 12 September 2006 Ferry operator Caledonian MacBrayne is gearing up for a busy weekend on the Upper Clyde with the Camanachd Cup Final taking place in Dunoon on Saturday 16 September.
Susan Paterson, Marketing Manager, said: “The Camanachd Cup Final starts at 2.30 on Saturday, and is being held in Dunoon Stadium. We anticipate large numbers of shinty fans making the trip across from Gourock during Saturday morning as well as after the match.”
Donna Derrick, Gourock Port Manager said: “We anticipate a busy day on Saturday, especially as this is the first year the Camanachd Cup Final has been played in Dunoon. CalMac will do everything possible to ensure that shinty enthusiasts enjoy the event and that we will play our part in helping people on their way to what should be a great match. Customers are advised that through tickets to Dunoon are obtainable on trains from Glasgow Central station to Gourock and this will help us speed up the traffic.”
Customers are also reminded that, in line with local byelaws, drinking in public is forbidden in Gourock and Dunoon. This will be strictly enforced. CalMac will be making use of its CCTV system at Gourock Ferry Terminal to monitor passenger safety and revenue control.
Timetable information Ferries depart Gourock at 0650 on Saturday, and then hourly from 0820. Departures ex Dunoon commence at 0720 on Saturday, with an hourly service from 0850 until the last departure at 2045.
