CALEDONIAN MACBRAYNE INVITES CUSTOMERS TO “MEET THE MANAGERS” AT THE MOD
06 October 2009

Ferry customers visiting the Mod in Oban next week will have the opportunity to quiz senior CalMac staff at a daily “Meet the Managers” session within the town’s ferry terminal.

The session is one of a series of special events organised by CalMac as part of its support for the Mod which takes place in Oban from October 9 – 17.

Other events include an exhibition in the Oban Terminal promoting the Gaelic Rings or Cearcaill na Gàidhlig travel initiative; talks on the evenings of Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 October in Oban Distillery Visitor Centre featuring CalMac historian Ian McCrorie and a Gaelic Rings speaker; a week-long programme of music and entertainment in the Skippinish Ceilidh House and a programme of lunch and dinner cruises on scheduled ferry services from Oban.

CalMac will also be launching the 2010 edition of its summer brochure Explore during Mod Week.

CalMac’s Managing Director Phil Preston said: “As a company operating lifeline ferry services off the west coast of Scotland, CalMac has had a long and extensive association with the cultural, social and economic life of the Gaelic community, and our support for the Mod is a hugely important part of that.

“The Mod also provides a wonderful opportunity to engage with customers from across the CalMac network, and nowhere is this more important than in Oban, which is very special to CalMac because of the important part the town plays in the life of the company.

“CalMac therefore intends pulling out all the stops for this year’s Mod in Oban and has organised a number of events to make it one of the most memorable Mods ever seen in the town.”

Ends.
