Outer Hebrides
"Last year my wife and I stopped on Lewis at Bac and were amazed to be able to stand in the middle of the road at 8am in the morning and there would be no traffic. At home it would be gridlock. I wanted to take a picture to show them at work how “busy” it was and had to wait nearly 5 minutes for a car to come past. That’s what you call a rush hour – 1 car in 10 minutes."
P Sandbach, Cheshire, England.
"My dream had been to island hop around the Outer Hebrides after visiting beautiful Coll a few years ago. I loved every second of the experience, but my highlight has to be the day we spend at Balranald RSPB reserve on North Uist. We woke up to find a beautiful sunny day and set off with a packed lunch. Before we had time to breathe we saw corn buntings singing from the top of the plants. We saw the most stunning beaches and could see the Monarch Islands from one point. To finish what was already a perfect day, we watched a short eared owl hunt across the reserve just as we were returning to our accommodation. Wow! That day will live in my memory forever. And the sunset......."
J Powell, South Gloucestershire, England.
"Myself and kilted friend bought an Island Hopscotch and visited Lewis, Harris and Skye. Horgebost Beach is to die for - and wild camping with all facilities! The sunsets are terrific on the Outer Hebrides, it's like an orchestra playing! And the Callanish Stones are a must-see."
J Jackson, Cheshire, England.
"Guess where? Not the Caribbean, not the Seychelles but the beautiful Isle of Harris. We had only been on the island for about 15 minutes when we came across this view at Luskentyre beach. We will be back."
Wilson, Stockton on tees, England.
