Facilities On Board

Pet Areas

Pets are welcome on board and travel free of charge. It is CalMac's aim to make journeys as safe as possible for all our passengers; please take due care and show consideration for everyone on board. Please note that passengers are solely responsible for the welfare and conduct of their pets, particularly dogs, whilst in the terminal and on board. Customers travelling with dogs must use designated Pet Areas where provided and are advised to remain with their dogs at all times. If further advice regarding travelling with pets is required, please do not hesitate to contact Customer Care on 01475 650 338 or email customercare@calmac.co.uk . A copy of our Pet Policy is available on request.

Disabled Amenities

All of our ships (excluding those on the Gourock-Dunoon route) have disabled toilets and lifts which can accommodate wheelchairs.  

Quiet Lounges

For those who simply wish to relax or rest on their journey, we have installed comfortable recliner chairs in designated quiet lounges on larger ships.

Cub Club Play Areas

Younger sailors can let off steam and play to their hearts' content in our dedicated play areas. We have recently refurbished some of our Cub Club areas on selected ships. These now have activity tables designed to keep young passengers amused.

Baby-Changing Facilities

Baby-changing facilities are situated on ships operating from Wemyss Bay-Rothesay, Ardrossan-Brodick, Mallaig-Armadale, Mallaig-Eigg/Muck/Rum/Canna, Uig-Tarbert, Uig-Lochmaddy, Ullapool-Stornoway, Kennacraig-Port Ellen/Port Askaig/Colonsay/Oban, Oban-Craignure, Oban-Coll/Tiree.

Smoking Policy

CalMac operates a policy of no smoking within internal passenger areas in line with current legislation. Smoking is not permitted on the car deck.
