CALMAC BACKS BIG APRIL ADVENTURE
Caledonian MacBrayne (CalMac) has teamed up with VisitScotland to launch a new campaign called the ‘Big April Adventure'.
The aim is to inspire and encourage the Scots themselves to rediscover or discover the great outdoors and natural attractions on their doorstep as part of the Year of Natural Scotland 2013.
Martin Dorchester, Managing Director of CalMac said: “Anyone who has travelled on a CalMac ferry will know what a special experience it is and for many people it is the perfect start to a day out or holiday. Scotland’s islands have something to offer everyone whether they’re looking for things to do and see or simply relax and we are sure that many of the people who take advantage of the Big April Adventures offer will want to return again and again.”
This highly visible campaign is to launch in late February and will take the form of a ballot of ‘Free tickets’ with Caledonian MacBrayne and ScotRail to be used in April.
These tickets are for selected sailings on selected routes and to apply for them customers should register on a VisitScotland website, (www.visitscotland/bigapriladventures) which is due to go live soon. CalMac regrets that it cannot allocate or distribute tickets which form part of this promotion.
The Year of Natural Scotland in 2013 gives an opportunity to VisitScotland and the tourism industry to spotlight and promote Scotland’s natural wonders using 8 key themes:
• Natural landscapes
• Natural built heritage
• Natural larder
• Sustainable tourism
• Natural playground
• Flora and fauna
• Art in nature
• Nature in cities
More information on CalMac's involvement in this campaign will be available closer to the launch. Check back for updates.
We visited Rum in May 2009 and what a fantastic place it is. While we were there we met wild mountain goats and saw 2 golden eagles circling each other over a hill top.
