Bute: Getting there/around
Beautiful Bute serves up a Victorian seaside town with a twist of gothic splendour.
Beautiful Bute is the perfect island daytrip. Stroll along the waterfront in Rothesay, amongst the palm trees, with an ice-cream cone in your hand and watch the yachts come and go. Stop in at the Grade-A listed Winter Gardens and Isle of Bute Discovery Centre and if you have green fingers, a visit to the sunken Victorian fernery at Ascog House is a must.
But the jewel in Bute's crown is undoubtedly Mount Stuart House and Gardens, one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in Europe. The stained glass windows are worth a visit in their own right!
Enjoy a fun packed day at the popular Bute Highland Games held on 23rd August 2008.
