MALLAIG-LOCHBOISDALE FERRY SERVICE STARTS THIS WEEK

A twice-a-week winter ferry service between Mallaig and Lochboisdale starts this week (weather permitting).

It is the first time a service has operated on this route since 2001, and signals the start of a three year pilot announced by Transport Minister Keith Brown in September.

Our Ships' Masters are best seafarers in the world

The Riverside Museum, Scotland’s Museum of Travel and Transport and European Museum of the Year for 2013, displays Glasgow Museums world famous ship model collection.   Glasgow Museums accepted the first model of a 21st century Clydebuilt ship into its collection thanks to the generosity of Caledonian MacBrayne (CalMac).   The model is of CalMac’s Largs/ Cumbrae ferry, the MV Loch Shira, which is in active service on the Firth of Clyde. Councillor Graham, Chair of Glasgow Life, was delighted to receive the modern model, presented by one of the current MV Loch Shira skippers Matt Ashwood.
