Baggage and Leisure Equipment

Passengers are allowed 40kg each of personal baggage (suitcases, rucksacks etc but not commercial goods) FREE. Passengers must be able to carry the luggage up the gangway in one trip. Passengers are not permitted to make several trips up and down the gangway due to counting regulations.

Pedal Cycles/Kayaks/Canoes/Surf Boards

When brought on board by foot passengers, the above are carried free of charge, subject to availability of space. In the interests of safety, and in consideration of other passengers, they are not considered to be hand luggage and accordingly are not permitted up or down passenger gangways. They must be stored in the designated area on the car deck under the supervision of a crew member. On occasions it may not be possible to provide facilities to store all pedal cycles in an upright position. Groups travelling together with the above are advised to contact the port of departure before the day of travel.

Roof and Cycle Racks

Drivers of vehicles carrying baggage etc. on roof racks must be prepared to remove these items and roof racks at time of shipment, if required to do so by CalMac staff. The same applies to pedal cycles on racks, which must be declared at the time of booking. Pedal cycles are not considered as hand luggage. Groups of pedal cyclists travelling together are advised to contact the port of departure before the day of travel.
