David MacBrayne Group meets European Transport Commissioner

Representatives of companies within the David MacBrayne Ltd Group of ferry companies met European Commissioner Jacques Barrot today (Thursday, May 1, 2008) in Edinburgh to engage about the formal investigation the Commission has launched into ferry subsidies.

Ballycastle/Rathlin Island Ferry Contract

It has been confirmed today that the new contract for the Ballycastle/Rathlin Ferry has been awarded to Mr Ciarán O’Driscoll, whose  companies currently provide ferry services to islands off the coast of County Cork.

David MacBrayne Group welcomes EU Investigation

David MacBrayne Ltd has today (Wednesday, April 16) welcomed the confirmation that the European Commission has decided to open a formal investigation into issues surrounding subsidy support received from the Scottish Government. The David MacBrayne Group includes NorthLink Ferries Ltd and CalMac Ferries Ltd, and provides Clyde & Hebrides, Gourock - Dunoon and Northern Isles ferry services.

Minister to look at Lismore Ferry Provision

Plans to improve ferry provision on the island of Lismore took a step forward today when Transport Minister Stewart Stevenson announced that an economic appraisal looking at future ferry priorities for the island is to be carried out.

Caledonian MacBrayne clarifies Wemyss Bay - Rothesay timetable from Easter weekend

CalMac regrets to advise customers that ongoing works at Argyll and Bute Council's Rothesay pier are taking longer than previously advised.

Due to the requirement to extend the period where ships have to berth at Gourock overnight, services at the end of the day are subject to disruption/cancellation at very short notice. Later sailings on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, in particular, will be subject to these changes.

Caledonian MacBrayne welcomes confirmation of RET pilot scheme

Ferry operator Caledonian MacBrayne has welcomed the confirmation by Minister for Transport Stewart Stevenson MSP today (Tuesday, February 26) that a Road Equivalent Tariff (RET) pilot scheme will be introduced in the Outer Hebrides.
