Polochar Inn, Isle of South Uist
A warm Highland welcome awaits you at this 17th century traditional inn situated at the water's edge with breathtaking views of Barra and Eriskay. The ideal location for discovering our islands. Our restaurant specialises in fresh local seafood, we have open fires and a cosy atmosphere.
Polochar Inn stands in a beautiful location at the south-west tip of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides. Built on the water's edge, it is the perfect base for peaceful walks along the island's stunning beaches, taking in views of Eriskay and Barra.
This 4 star inn was once a change-house: a place where one could wait for the ferry when travelling between South Uist and Eoligarry on Barra. The original building dates back to circa 1750 and retains many of its original features; it is now privately owned by local sisters Morag MacKinnon and Margaret Campbell whose aim is to ensure you sample true island hospitality and comfort while exploring this wonderful part of the Outer Hebrides.
