Take a fresh look at Islay's wildlife
Islay's RSPB Loch Gruinart reserve is a hive of activity year round. In Autumn, the reserve will welcome thousands of whitefronted barnacle geese from Greenland, who will stay until spring. When they check out, the wading birds will check in and entertain twitchers and novices alike with their courtship displays. In early summer, you'll hear the call of the corncrake, one of nature's most secretive birds. Hen Harriers will hunt on the centre's moorland trail, whilst all around the beautiful blue bluebells will be blooming.
