CalMac extends summer Go Days Out trips and teams up with ScotRail for Rail & Sail

Summer has just been extended - it's official.

MV Isle of Mull

With public demand high for its popular Go Days Out trips, CalMac has announced that many, already enjoyed by 14,000 people from March to June alone, will now continue into October - perhaps an ideal half-term adventure or, quite simply, a chance to get out and about on the west coast.

Those trips which will continue into October include the likes of Duart Castle, the Clan Donald Centre on Skye, Dunvegan Castle, Iona Abbey and the Isle of Bute's Mount Stuart. For those who want to get out and about on two wheels or two feet, the Small Isles can offer cycling on Eigg or a ranger walk on Rum. Destinations such as Staffa and the Treshnish Isles offer stunning scenery and rich wildlife.  If it's more about rest and relaxation there are a number of combined sail and meal packages for the likes of Islay or Mull.

Many of the trips have received TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence voted for by visitors and destinations on offer regularly appear in lists of the UK's, Europe's and the world's top traveller locations, including Skye, Arran, Mull, Lewis and Harris.

The full range of trips can be found online at https://www.calmac.co.uk/days-out

And, with a new Rail & Sail campaign from CalMac and Abellio ScotRail, it is now easier to beat the crowds and leave the car behind. The scheme combines rail and ferry fares together in one ticket, making it a more convenient way for passengers to travel seamlessly.

An initiative to offer a more convenient way to travel, Rail & Sail takes advantage of easy and frequent train connections and combined train and ferry tickets to open up numerous landscapes and destinations across the west coast.

It is ideal for a day out or longer getaway with friends or family - tickets on longer routes allow passengers to break their journey along the way and there is no need to worry about busy roads, who's driving or finding parking.

More information and details of additional deals available for Rail and Sail ticket holders, such as Kids Go Free at Mount Stuart on the Isle of Bute, are available at https://www.calmac.co.uk/railandsail
