Castles and Caves
Castles and Caves - NEW
A unique tour linking two of Scotland's most iconic destinations in one great trip, which is full to the brim with heritage and natural wonder. Sailing out to Mull from Oban you'll drive to the 13th Century home of the Clan MacLean where one of the castle's expert guides will take you on a personal tour of the castle.
After tea or coffee and home baked cakes in the tearoom (included), there's time to explore the beautiful grounds and perhaps treat yourself to a locally sourced light lunch (or order a packed lunch to take with you). The Turus Mara bus will pick up at 1245 for the scenic drive beside the Sound of Mull, then across the island via Loch na Keal and under the towering 966 metre "last Munro", Benmore, and Mull's highest peak and on to Ulva. From there you'll sail to Staffa reaching Fingal's Cave one hour later. After a light commentary, everyone who wishes can land and walk to Fingal's Cave which has often been described as one of the wonders of the world. The naturally formed cathedral like structure is said to have inspired Mendelsohn's renowned Overture. You can then explore Staffa or just enjoy the panorama of the islands and ocean for around an hour before setting off for a cruise around Staffa to view its other remarkable caves, prior to cruising back to Ulva for 1800 and on to Craignure and the 1930 ferry to Oban.
