CalMac Culture Music Competition Final

A competition for aspiring original singer songwriters organised by award-winning ferry operator Caledonian MacBrayne (CalMac) reaches a conclusion this weekend when the final is held at Glasgow's King Tut's on Sunday (June 15).

Eight acts, whittled down from more than 50 entries will play three acoustic tracks in the final as they compete for the chance to showcase their musical talents at either the HebCelt or Tiree Music Festival through a half hour slot live onstage.

A limited number of tickets price £5 are available at the door. Doors open 2030hrs.

Cathy Craig, Commercial Director at CalMac, said: "We have been enthusiastic supporters of these festivals for some time but this is a very new venture for us and we were delighted at the number of entries we received. We hope that all of the finalists, as well as the ultimate winner, use this as a springboard to go on to even bigger and better things in their musical careers."

Also included in the prize is entry to the festival plus 3 tickets for friends camping passes/tent/sleeping bags and travel across by ferry. Also expenses of £250 will be allocated upon arrival at the festival.

The final will be hosted by comedian Bruce Morton and the eight acts taking part are:

· Adullboy (Robin Crosbie)
· Tom D
· Angela Dunbar
· Freya Giles
· Lorna Jane Gracie
· Davy Nicol
· Sophie Rogers
