An annual international yacht race from Lochmaddy, North Uist to St Kilda. Comann na Mara in conjunction with associated Partners.

About the Challenge

Lochmaddy to St. Kilda Challenge 2018

The Lochmaddy to St Kilda Challenge will be running from Thursday 14 June 2018 to Saturday 16 June 2018 and will be split into three parts

  1. Long distance challenge race from N Ireland beginning 14th June 2018
  2. The Race round St Kilda, beginning 15th June 2018
  3. Flotilla to St Kilda, beginning 15th June 2018

The following Challenge is scheduled for 2020. 

Participants will arrive on Thursday with most making their way out to the starting line in the Sound of Harris in the afternoon. The race itself starts at 9:30 on Friday morning, returning from around 11am on Saturday morning and others into the afternoon.

The start time will be confirmed on the morning itself as weather conditions may require a time alteration.

Onshore programme

The three day onshore programme will be announced early 2018 when the programme is collated and artists confirm.
