Armadale Castle - Tour to Armadale Castle and Gardens and Stunning Skye
About this tour
Armadale Castle & Gardens sits at the heart of a 20,000-acre estate on the Sleat peninsula - the Clan Donald Lands Trust owns and manages the estate.
The 40-acre woodland garden, dating back to the 1600's, surrounds the imposing ruin of Armadale Castle and its Gothic wing. Featuring many rare shrubs and plants, visitors can enjoy elegant lawns, terraced walks and warm colours in the blossoming borders. Landscaped ponds brimming with wildlife and its beautiful Spring carpet of Bluebells make it one of the treasures of the Isle of Skye.
The award-winning Museum of the Isles is located in the gardens, holding the Clan Donald collection with a library, archive and genealogy department, featuring 6 galleries exhibiting the history of Scotland's largest clan and the culture and heritage of this part of Skye.
This circular tour of the West Highlands travels up the stunning A830 'The Road to the Isles' passing Glenfinnan and the spot near Arisaig where Bonnie Prince Charlie landed on the Scottish mainland in July 1745.
Sailing over the sea to Skye with Caledonian MacBrayne from Mallaig - Armadale the tour visits Armadale Castle and Gardens and then makes its way along the 'the garden of Skye' to the village of Broadford. After visiting Broadford the tour returns to the Scottish mainland via the Skye Bridge.
