In the words of our customers "CalMac crew save the day"

Our customer recently wrote to us to tell us about how our crew rallied around a family to keep them safe, and help them have the best time.

“Sometimes something happens in life that renews faith in humanity. We crossed from Oban to Castlebay on the 2nd August, and our hire car broke down (almost catching fire) on the car deck while waiting to drive off in Barra.

“The CalMac crew were there in seconds dealing efficiently with a high stress situation, kept everyone incredibly safe, made the car safe, and helped all the other cars off the car deck in a very calm and controlled manner.

“They looked out for our children, turning what could have been a frightening experience for them into one that was an adventure. They stayed with us for three hours, way past their shift, until it was clear the recovery service we’d requested were not going to arrive. They made sure we had wheels to reach accommodation for the night. 

“What could have been a very unpleasant few days was turned into a wonderful holiday in Barra thanks to the entire crew that rallied around to help us. We feel blessed to have experienced the best of Scottish hospitality.”
