Update: 19 September 2024
We are keen to update our customers about our service between Raasay - Sconser (Skye) during the overhaul period for MV Hallaig, the vessel which ordinarily operates this service.
An amended timetable will be in operation from 21 September 2024 until at least 12 October 2024 and MV Loch Riddon will operate as the sole vessel service on this route. View amended timetable here.
We had planned to deploy MV Loch Bhrusda to this service during MV Hallaig's overhaul period, however, MV Loch Bhrusda will now need to remain deployed to Small Isles due to a delay in the overhaul of MV Lochnevis. We've shared more background and context on this below.
Travel advice for all customers
MV Loch Riddon does have a smaller vehicle capacity, so please do keep in mind that your first choice of sailing may not always be available.
Travel advice for drivers of larger vehicles
If you are planning to travel on this service with a vehicle of 22 tonnes or over, please contact our port in Uig on 01470 220116 (option 2) at least 24 hours prior to travel.
Information on booking system
We are currently updating our booking system to reflect these changes. It may be that some dates show as unavailable or are not visible, please do check back.
Information on our plans to support the service between Raasay and Sconser, Skye
We understand the use MV Loch Riddon, a smaller vessel, presents its own challenges. We have carried out ramp trials with a charter vessel to support MV Loch Riddon on the Raasay-Sconser route, however, these trials were unsuccessful.
The amended timetable for this period does include additional sailings, in order to provide as much capacity as possible.
We will continue to review availability of charter options and review our deployment options as vessels return from annual overhaul - this may allow the opportunity for a larger vessel to be deployed to Sconser-Raasay, Skye. It is necessary to remember that plans and deployment options are subject to crew and vessel availability.
We apologise for the impact on customers and the communities who rely on the service. Our team remains focused on minimising the effect on you wherever possible - and we thank you for your patience and understanding.
