Before you travel: Check the service status of your route
26 August 2025
We’re pleased to let our customers know that our winter timetables for the period 20 October 2025 to 26 March 2026, are now available to view on our timetable section and will open for reservations on bookable routes and advance purchase for Turn Up and Go routes on Thursday 11 September from 9am.
10-journey tickets will be available to purchase at a date close to the opening of the winter timetable in October 2025.
It’s a good time for us to remind you that Turn Up and Go single and return tickets are valid for use within the timetable season for which they are purchased - either summer or winter. They cannot be used outside that timetable season, and they are non-refundable. So, if you have Turn Up and Go tickets or 10 Journey tickets for the summer season, please do factor the validity dates into your plans. Read our ticket validity guide for more information.
The publication of our winter timetable coincides with the completion of plans for our annual maintenance and overhaul programme. It’s an essential process to reduce the risk of in-service issues. This year, the number of planned overhaul days will increase to 768, up from 693 days last year. This reflects the reality of the age profile of the fleet which means more time and more intensive maintenance is required to ensure vessels are ready for the year ahead.
We have planned this period with as much detail as possible, and as always will monitor progress closely. The overhaul schedule does limit available relief options; however, we are confident that the plan delivers resilience for all the communities we serve.
To provide you with certainty, and so bookings can open at the earliest opportunity, the winter timetable we’re publishing is based on deploying the vessels currently available to us. That means these plans don’t include MV Caledonian Isles, which is currently undergoing repairs, or MV Isle of Islay, which is due to enter service towards the end of 2025. Should we have the return / arrival of vessels as winter progresses, we will build on the current plan and review plans based on needs across the network.
We have been worked closely with communities in developing the winter 2025/2026 timetables. Thank you to everyone who has been involved. As always, the Caledonian MacBrayne team will continue to focus on supporting customers and communities throughout the winter months and to providing the best service possible
