Boarding the ferry

Vehicles

  1. Join the queue

    Queue in the designated area and follow staff instruction.

  2. Silence any alarms

    Lock your vehicle and disarm the alarm to avoid activation whilst sailing

  3. Unable the handbrake

    Ensure handbrake is applied before switching your engine on or off.

  4. Check its safe to leave the car

    Check passage before leaving your vehicle and use walkways.

    Please note: On larger ferries you must leave your vehicle while the ship is at sea however on smaller ferries you can stay in your vehicle while the ship is at sea on most of these routes. 

  5. Follow instructions from staff

    When disembarking follow instructions from staff.

Foot passengers

  1. Board the ferry

    • Larger ferries - board via the Passenger Access System or gangway

    • Smaller ferries - board via the ramp used for both passengers and vehicles

  2. Watch for hazards

    Watch your step for trip hazards and steep stairways.

    Consider appropriate footwear and use lift if required.

  4. Follow instructions from staff

    When disembarking follow instructions from staff 

Cyclists

  1. Dismount

    Dismount and walk your bike on board

  2. Queue

    Queue in the designated area and follow staff instruction

  3. Secure bike

    Ask crew where to secure your bike

  4. Watch for hazards

    Be aware of slip hazards on metal decks, especially if wet

  5. Follow instructions from staff

    When disembarking follow instructions from staff
