Customer FAQs

Are the train and ferry connections shown in the timetable guaranteed?

When planning a journey that requires connecting services, be realistic about the journey length and allow extra time for unexpected delays. Ferry services are often affected by bad weather and tidal issues. Rail services can be amended and traffic can be delayed by roadworks.

Train timings in our timetables are reproduced from information supplied by ScotRail  and are for guidance only. Always check train times with ScotRail  when planning a journey.

When using other forms of transport to and from our ports, please note these services do not always guarantee a connection, particularly during times of disruption. We advise that you check both CalMac and connecting service websites prior to travel to ensure you can reach your end destination safely.

What do I need to be aware of when using the shuttle bus to/from Troon train station?

Troon train station is currently being redeveloped. This work is due for completion in Summer 2024. During this time, the station remains operational. However, there is restricted passenger access with no vehicle parking, access or drop-off via Barassie Street to the Platform 1 side of the station. Access is available via walkways (c100m) from St Meddans St and Victoria Drive. Access to Platform 2 side of the station remains unchanged.

You can find out more information about Troon train station on ScotRail's website .

Where will the shuttle bus pick-up and drop-off at Troon train station?

The shuttle bus will pick-up and drop-off on St Meddans Street, underneath the railway bridge. The walk between the platforms and the bus pick-up/drop-off point is approximately 5 minutes (uphill towards the platforms and downhill towards the bus pick-up).

Information for passengers who need assistance

I've purchased a Rail & Sail ticket from ScotRail. Do I need a separate CalMac ticket for the ferry?
