Golf at The Machrie, Isle of Islay

Golf at The Machrie, Isle of Islay

Set in the dunes above a seven-mile beach on Islay, one of the most easily accessible Hebridean islands off the west coast of Scotland, The Machrie, Islay relaunches as Another Place, The Machrie on 1 August 2024 – becoming the second hotel in the Another Place collection.

This exciting new chapter in its evolution will build on the stunning location, great food and drink, championship golf, beautifully designed interiors and impressive modern art collection The Machrie is known for – expanding it with new experiences inspired by the outdoor culture and hospitality that guests of Another Place, The Lake (in Cumbria) would expect.

Known as “the Queen of the Hebrides”, Islay (pronounced eye-la), is the fifth largest Scottish island and is home to approximately 3,000 residents. It’s 25 miles long, with a diverse landscape of 23 beaches, high peaks and wilderness, sea lochs and dramatic cliffs, and characterful harbour towns and villages. Islay’s abundant wildlife was featured in Attenborough’s Wild Isles series, and it’s also famous for its whisky, with 10 distilleries on the island as well as specialist gin, rum and craft beer producers.

The Machrie has an established reputation for its internationally acclaimed championship links course overlooking the Atlantic. Another Place is introducing a number of new experiences to both complement its impressive golf offer and widen its appeal for everyone.
