I need lift access when travelling between Troon and Brodick from 5 January to 30 January. What do I need to do?
The vessel that operates Ardrossan - Brodick will depart for annual overhaul, and this means there will be no service operating to/from Ardrossan between 5 January to 30 January.
During this time MV Alfred will operate a single vessel timetable between Troon and Brodick. The lift on MV Alfred is currently out of order and the timeline for completion of the repair is end of January.
Whilst the lift is out of use, from 5 January customers travelling in their own vehicles who are unable to use the stairs to access the passenger areas, will be able to remain in their vehicles on the car deck for the duration of the crossing. However, this will need to be limited to 4 vehicles per sailing. (Up to and incl. 4 January - passengers who require the use of the lift are advised to consider travelling on services to/from Ardrossan.)
And customers who are foot passengers and who are unable to use the stairs may be able to travel in our minibus and stay in this vehicle during the crossing.
The number of vehicles we can accommodate in this way on each crossing is limited to four and ten passengers in total across all vehicles on the car deck. This may mean if you are travelling with others, you cannot all stay on the car deck and those passengers who can manage the stairs to the passenger areas, will need to vacate the car deck during the sailing.
So, if you require to use the lift, and therefore remain in a vehicle during this sailing, since this will be limited to 4 vehicles and 10 passengers per sailing, please contact the port of departure the day before travel to discuss your requirements and availability.
Also, we are keen to make you aware that there are no toilet facilities available on the car deck, however we are investigating an alternative provision of facilities. Currently, toilet facilities are available at the Troon and Brodick ports. (Accessible toilets are available within the main Troon terminal building - there are no accessible toilets available next to the car lanes). If you're using the toilets facilities in our terminal buildings, please remember to be back in your vehicle, ready to board the ferry, at check-in closing time.
