15 May 2026
We are pleased to let our customers know that our network status is currently operating normally on all our major vessel routes, with the return of MV Isle of Lewis from 16 May - and MV Hebrides earlier this week. MV Alfred will also remain with us on charter until the end of the summer timetable period.
We’ve detailed below what customers can expect to see across the network with this news:
Kennacraig – Port Askaig, Islay – this service will continue to be operated by two vessels, MV Isle of Islay and MV Isle of Arran. We expect MV Finlaggan to return to service on 20 May, when she will operate alongside MV Isle of Islay. Should there be any delay, another vessel will be redeployed to ensure adequate capacity for the duration of Fèis Ìle festival on Islay. When MV Isle of Islay undergoes a fix to her bow ramp, service will be provided by MV Finlaggan and another vessel from the fleet. As always, we will share the very latest information for the route on the service status page.
Ullapool, Stornoway, Lewis – from 16 May, MV Isle of Lewis will operate on this route to help clear traffic which has built up due to MV Loch Seaforth operating at a reduced capacity, due to current operational restrictions on this vessel, which means she can currently operate from one end of the car deck only. Full details of sailings will be available on the service status page for the route.
Oban-Castlebay, Barra - MV Glen Sannox will continue service on this route unless she is required to support services to Islay, should there be a delay to MV Finlaggan’s return from overhaul. MV Isle of Lewis will later return to this route next week, and MV Glen Sannox will undertake trials on the Uig – Tarbert/Lochmaddy route.
Ardrossan/Troon - Brodick, Arran – MV Caledonian Isles (Ardrossan – Brodick) and MV Alfred (Troon – Brodick) will continue to provide a two-vessel service on Arran for the summer timetable period, following confirmation of MV Alfred’s charter.
As we update our system with returning vessels, it may be that reservations for a particular route looks unavailable. This is temporary, please do check back later. Our service status page for each route will detail when this work has been completed.
Should any customers be affected by the changes listed above – please know that our team will be in touch with you.
When we’ve shared updates with you over the last few weeks, in addition to the details on the service, a key part of those has been letting you know that we understand the effect the disruption has for those travelling, and those living and working on the islands. That’s always at the forefront of our minds and continues to be as we plan ahead with more confidence – and with a resilience vessel in place for the peak summer months.
Thank you for your support to our teams – we are so grateful to them for all their expertise and dedication, especially over the last few weeks.
Please be assured if you have an impacted booking, we will be in touch with you to advise if it needs to be amended - and to provide you with support where required.
