Back to Disruptions

Each ship has qualified engineers on board; why does it sometimes take so long to get ships back into service?

If we have spares on board or in store, and the problem can be fixed by one of our own engineers then we will do so.

However, with larger ships and more sophisticated technology, this may not be possible and parts may have to be sourced from manufacturers which are often based outwith Scotland, or repairs are required to be carried out by specialist engineers. The age of many of our vessels also means that it can be difficult getting spares and parts may have to be made to order.
