Isle of Raasay Distillery

Visit Raasay's first legal still at Raasay Distillery

Raasay Distillery opened in October 2017 after a journey to convert disused Victorian Borodale House into the island's first legal whisky distillery and Visitors Centre. It is the result of both a heritage in the Hebrides and a desire to produce premium quality craft whisky, influenced and inspired by the unique terroir of Raasay. Raasay Distillery are producing whisky that showcases the provenance of the island; that is, it tastes of the classic flavour notes indicative of where it is distilled. Until there is legal whisky to bottle in 2020 the company have produced Raasay While We Wait single malt - an aptly named representation of the style of whisky to come from this new distillery.

The distillery offers tours and whisky tastings to visitors which offer an insight into the innovative whisky making process. Raasay Distillery's tour guides are local islanders who share their unrivalled knowledge of Raasay's geography and community. The distillery offers eight tours per day, seven days a week, throughout the year. The distillery also offers luxury accommodation with three bedrooms offering views of the Cuillin mountains on Skye, while the other rooms overlook the distillery production yard.
