Sea Change Film Festival 2026 – The Isle of Tiree

This September, step aboard the MV Clansman with CalMac from Oban and embark on a journey to the Inner Hebrides for a truly unique island experience. From the 18th – 20th of September 2026, Screen Argyll will once again host Sea Change Film Festival on the idyllic Isle of Tiree.

Sea Change Film Festival is Scotland’s only annual film festival dedicated to empowering woman in film, showcasing film directed and produced by woman from all over the globe.

The Sea Change festival programme showcases an inspiring and diverse variety of cinema from international feature films and powerful documentaries to short films, animations, and work from first time filmmakers and family programme, there is something in the program for everyone.

Screenings and events take place across the island in unique venues. The main festival venue is An Talla, Tiree’s community hall. Hynish, a Historical site on the islands southwest, once home to the Skerryvore lighthouse telegraph station and now an amazing heritage site. The festival also extends to the rugged west coast of the island to Isle of Tiree Distillery, another unique island venue.

The Isle of Tiree Distillery is also one of Sea Change Festivals sponsors. Over the weekend, many visitors will become familiar with their beautiful local gin, distilled using botanicals gathered from Tiree’s machair, a true taste of the island itself.

This festival is absolutely unique, and it was an honour to premier our feature film in such a beautiful location. The weekend was really empowering and beautifully curated, celebrating women filmmakers with diverse films, inspiring workshops, sea dips, and a warm communal atmosphere. An unforgettable experience. Definitely my favourite film festival I’ve attended!

Throughout the weekend, visitors are welcomed by the local community, who come together each year to help bring the festival to life. Whether you are attending your first screening, chatting with filmmakers after a film, or watching the sunset after a dip in the Atlantic. Sea Change creates a warm and intimate atmosphere unlike larger city festivals.

Beyond the film programme, the festival also offers a range of wellbeing and creative experiences. Start the morning with beach yoga, embrace the Atlantic waters with Wild Bathing Scotland, or take part in workshops designed to inspire creativity and conversation. The weekend blends cinema, nature, and community in a way that feels deeply connected to the island itself.

Whether you are a film lover, creative, wild swimmer, or simply looking for a different kind of island escape, Sea Change Film Festival offers an unforgettable weekend on Tiree’s shores.
