Annual Vessel Overhaul Plans 2024/25

While we move through the busy winter overhaul period, several challenging issues have emerged across the fleet in recent days – and we have had to review our vessel deployment and service plans across the network. The current vessel deployment plan is detailed below.

We have published a revised winter deployment plan in response to the delay to MV Caledonian Isles's return to service that will impact a number of our routes.
Full details of changes to any services can be found in our customer updates section. Should there be any changes which affect services, we will keep customers updated via our Service Status and Information pages, which carry the latest information on sailings day to day, and customer updates.
Please note, not all routes have been amended and some will remain as per the plan published below on 23 August 2024.

In light of the recent news on MV Caledonian Isles, our annual vessel deployment plan has been revisited and is being updated. An update to the following plans will be done. For full details on any effect on services, please visit the Service Status and Information pages and customer update section of our website in the meantime.

This year's annual maintenance period has increased from 668 overhaul days in 2023/24 to 693 days. This is essential to ensure all required works can be carried out to reduce risk of in-service breakdowns. Several vessels will be subject to an extended annual maintenance period, to meet the requirements for a peak of scheduled maintenance and survey work, which is in line with the fleet age profile.
Our teams have planned the annual maintenance period with as much detail and consideration as possible, based on their knowledge of the vessels - and we are closely monitoring the progress of each maintenance period. We will ensure that colleagues, customers and communities are kept up to date as soon as we're aware of any challenges or changes to service.
This year's plan has been created building on lessons learned from previous years, following further extensive disruption earlier in the year, and is the best outcome possible for the network as a whole.
