2 hour Stacks Trip Details

This popular 2 hour Sea Stacks trip takes in some of the most stunning scenery on Uig’s Atlantic coast. Leaving from the pontoon at Miavaig jetty we head out of Loch Roag to Vacasay, we set a course for the sea stacks at Harsgeir and Berisay. The stack off Berisay was at one time a temporary home for Neil Macleod, one of the many sons of the last Macleod Chief of Lewis. He was involved in the struggle between the Macleods and the Mackenzies, where the latter gained control of Lewis.

The waters around Berisay are home to a large population of seals, which we often see relaxing on rocks. We continue to the Old Hill, with its 90 metre high cliffs and rocky coastline. Imagine how they appear in winter as waves and spray break clearly over the top. In summer, nesting kittiwakes take shelter in the caves at the north end of the island. Leaving the Sea Stacks we continue to the island of Campay to explore its 100-metre long rock archway and blowholes. The next step is a cruise to the clear blue waters of the Little Bernera lagoon. We slowly motor past the lagoon, round to the beach and chapel ruins at Temple Sands. Then we navigate through Kyles Bernera at Bosta beach where we view the tidal bell before returning to the pontoons at Miavaig.
This trip is suitable for all the family.

2 hour Pabbay Trip details

The Pabbay trip leaves the jetty at Miavaig, in Uig, most days throughout the summer. We head out Loch Roag and past the village of Reef entering Little Loch Roag to look for otters, often seen foraging on the shoreline.

Sea Eagles frequently patrol this area and we regularly spot them on this trip. Magnificent birds of prey, larger and darker than golden eagles. They are also known as White Tailed Sea Eagles.

From there we head for the sweeping length of Traigh na Berie towards the island of Siaram, then on to Pabbay Mor. We slow down to explore the amazing depths of the sea-caves and continue round the North end of Pabbay to see its impressive natural arch and spectacular Lagoon surrounded by sandy beaches. This relaxing trip is suitable for all ages.

All trips departing from Miavaig, Uig, Isle of Lewis.
