How to join the waitlist for a sailing?

Firstly – our waitlist option is only available on the route that serves – Uig – Tarbert / Lochmaddy. It is in operation as a temporary pilot – and temporarily replaces ‘advance standby’ which operates on our other routes.

Waitlist supports customers, including commercial customers, who have last-minute travel needs but who do not currently have a ticket to travel on the sailing of their choice – and that sailing is currently full. When this is the case, you can opt to join the waitlist to access space on the ferry – should this become available.

You do not need to meet any criteria to join the waitlist. However, campervans / motorhomes and vehicles towing caravans cannot join the waitlist unless they are island residents and the campervan / motorhome is their sole mode of travel.

How to join the Waitlist?

You can join the waitlist for a full sailing on the Uig-Tarbert / Lochmaddy route by contacting the port of departure – where our team will place you on the list and take a payment for travel.

Our teams can only add you to the waitlist up to the day before travel.

Between the time of your booking and up to 24 hours prior to the sailing - your place will be confirmed if space is available, or your payment refunded automatically because no space was available.

In the event you do not get onto the sailing via the waitlist, we’ll ask you whether you would like to receive a refund or have your booking moved to a future sailing with space.  

If you don’t get moved to a confirmed space from the waitlist the day prior to sailing and prior to the waitlist closing – you can join the ‘standby’ queue at the port on the day of travel. This is on a first come first served basis of arrival at the port operating on the day of travel. There is no guarantee of travel, and it is subject to deck space availability.
