Rail and Sail - Arran

rail and sail - Arran
Around 2 hours from leaving Glasgow and you can be on Arran, often known as 'Scotland in Miniature'. Head to Arran Heritage Museum, great for all the family with its wonderful exhibits and tales of times past. Brodick Castle and Country Gardens is also great to explore, with its dramatic backdrop of Goatfell peak as well as interesting collections and beautiful woodland trails and landscaped gardens to enjoy.
There are 7 great golf courses on Arran including quirky Shiskine. Get active and head to the summit of Goatfell for great views or enjoy the range of more leisurely walks available. Other activities to enjoy include mountain biking, cycling, kayaking, gorge walking, abseiling or segway - to name just a few! Arran is also home to Lochranza Distillery and the Arran Brewery, Arran Cheese Company and Arran Aromatics. With great beaches, wildlife and a variety of options to eat and drink, there's plenty to enjoy.
To get around the island, Stagecoach buses offer 1 and 3 day Bus Rover tickets, available to buy from CalMac Port Offices, making it easy to get to all the key sites on the island.
