Isle of Raasay Distillery was founded in 2014 with the vision of building Scotland's leading artisan distillery. We are driven by a focus on local production, provenance, quality and doing things differently. Isle of Raasay Distillery sits on the breathtaking Isle of Raasay, just a 25 minute ferry ride from Sconser on the Isle of Skye. It is the island's first legal whisky distillery.
The Isle of Raasay is just 14 miles long and 3 miles wide - approximately the same size as Manhattan - but with a far smaller population of roughly 180. We currently employ around one third of the island's population, and we're proud to have created jobs for people from all over the world including Germany, Mexico, South Korea and France. Our dedicated and passionate team work tirelessly to bring the Raasay experience to life, and our little island is the inspiration for everything we do.
We launched Isle of Raasay Gin in 2019, and our Isle of Raasay Signature Single Malt scotch whisky first launched in 2021. Both have since gone on to win multiple awards at international spirits competitions.
Distillery tours and whisky tastings offer visitors an insight into our innovative whisky making process. We hold eight tours per day, seven days a week, throughout the year. We offer different types of tours including our new Bottling & Dunnage Warehouse tours which give guests a look behind the scenes into the workings of the distillery.
We also offer luxury accommodation in Borodale House which is our celebrated whisky hotel. A formerly disused Victorian Villa, Borodale House has been completely refurbished and it is now famously the only place in Scotland where you can spend the night in the same building as a working distillery! Our six ensuite bedrooms can be booked individually or by groups of up to 12. Some rooms offer views of the Cuillin mountains on Skye, while others overlook the distillery production yard.
Borodale House Restaurant is available both to our whisky hotel guests as well as members of the public visiting the island. The Restaurant is open five days a week (Friday - Tuesday), serving delicious locally sourced food including Raasay venison and fresh seafood from our surrounding waters. Enjoy a unique dining experience with unrivalled views over the Cuillin Mountains.
Borodale House & Visitor Centre has a fully stocked bar with locally brewed beers, Isle of Raasay whiskies, and unique cocktails designed in-house, and our shop offers our full range of gin, whiskies and merchandise, along with some of our rarest special releases.
