Loose freight consultation deferred for six months

CalMac has deferred a review of the loose freight service it provides to Arran, Bute, Cumbrae and Raasay for six months.

The deteriorating effect of the COVID-19 restrictions on local communities has led to the deferment and any review of the service will now be made later next year.

CalMac will continue to consult with the Small Isles to define the future loose freight operation, as this service differs from the islands mentioned above.

Robert Morrison, Operations Director for CalMac, said: "Following a year of unprecedented pressures on our communities caused by COVID-19 restrictions, we fully understand the concerns that people may have about the proposed review of the loose freight service.

We have recorded the feedback received to date and we will ensure this is incorporated when the consultation process recommences in June 2021."
