Islay transport connections

Islay transport links to/from Port Ellen 

If you are a foot passenger with a booking to/from Port Askaig, and you are now sailing to/from Port Ellen, public transport options are available. You can plan your journey between Port Ellen and Port Askaig at the Argyll & Bute website. 

Unfortunately, due to the requirement to operate an amended timetable, some sailings during the closure period (19 July - 30 August 2024) will not connect with bus services on Islay, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. 

If you find there's no suitable connecting bus, we can assist you with a port-to-port taxi service between Port Askaig and Port Ellen, to ensure you are not financially impacted.  

This port-to-port taxi service is available by request only, and must be booked before 12:00 (midday) on the day prior to your journey*.

Opening hours during the closure period: Monday - Sunday, 06:00 - 17:00.  

*If you have accessibility requirements in using the port-to-port taxi service, please contact us at least 48 hours in advance of your journey, so that we can provide as much assistance as we can.

Foot passengers who choose to make their own way to/from Port Askaig, instead of availing of the Caledonian MacBrayne-provided taxi service, may do so at their own expense.
