Islay-Jura ferry connections

Islay- Jura ferry connections 

During the Port Askaig closure period (19 June - 30 August 2024), Argyll & Bute Council's Port Askaig (Islay) - Jura ferry service will operate as normal, from the concrete slip at Port Askaig.  

Customers travelling on the following Caledonian MacBrayne services, listed below, arriving into Port Ellen should be aware that the 21:30 Port Askaig - Jura request sailing offers an onward ferry connection to Jura. However, the 21:30 Port Askaig - Jura sailing must be requested and booked before 12:00 on the day prior to travel. 

  • Mondays, 18:25 Kennacraig - Port Ellen (arriving 20:35) 

  • Tuesdays, 16:30 Kennacraig - Port Ellen (arriving 18:40) 

  • Thursdays, 18:25 Kennacraig - Port Ellen (arriving 20:35) 

  • Fridays, 15:40 Kennacraig - Port Ellen (arriving 17:50) 

To make a booking for the 21:30 Port Askaig - Jura sailing, please contact Argyll & Bute Council on 01496 840681.  

Customers travelling on the following Caledonian MacBrayne services arriving into Port Ellen should be aware that onward connections to Jura will not be available: 

  • Wednesdays, 19:50 Kennacraig - Port Ellen (arriving 22:10) 

  • Sundays, 19:10 Kennacraig - Port Ellen (arriving 21:30) 

With the exception of the 21:30 request sailing, the last scheduled Port Askaig (Islay) - Jura ferry service departs Port Askaig at 18:30. Customers travelling on the following Caledonian MacBrayne services arriving into Port Ellen should be aware that a connection with the 18:30 Port Askaig (Islay - Jura) sailing is not guaranteed: 

  • Wednesdays, 15:40 Kennacraig - Port Ellen (arriving 17:50) 

  • Fridays, 15:40 Kennacraig - Port Ellen (arriving 17:50) 

  • Saturdays, 15:40 Kennacraig - Port Ellen (arriving 17:50) 

  • Sundays, 15:40 Kennacraig - Port Ellen (arriving 17:50) 

In the event of a delayed arrival at Port Ellen, Caledonian MacBrayne will liaise with Argyll & Bute Council to support this connection however, unfortunately, this cannot be guaranteed. Customers should factor this into their travel plans, and may wish to consider booking the 21:30 Port Askaig - Jura request sailing (see above).
