CalMac author Julie Clarke on board again for special book signings
Acclaimed author Julie Clarke will again be on board the MV Clansman for a special signing event of her first novel 'Becoming Julie'.
Julie will be on the 1445 sailing from Oban to Coll on Tuesday, July 21 and the 0815 sailing from Oban to Coll,Tiree, Castlebay,Tiree and Coll on Thursday, July 23.
Published by Fledgling Press, 'Becoming Julie' is a personal and factual account of her journey from a boy born in 50s' Central Scotland to the woman she is today, living happily on the Isle of Coll and working for CalMac as a port assistant, a job she previously held as a man.
The novel has been acclaimed by critics and fellow novelists alike in the UK and plans are ongoing for it to be sold in Ireland and elsewhere.
Julie is looking forward to meeting passengers on both sailings and chatting to them about her book and experiences.
"The last time I did a signing on board it was very interesting to meet my readers and find out what it was that drew them to the book, I'm looking forward to it again," said Julie
"Living on an island and relying so much on the CalMac service it's a special experience for me to host a signing on board."
Julie is currently working on her follow up novel which will continue to chart the trials and tribulations of her life. The as yet untitled work is due out next year.
'Becoming Julie' is available on board major CalMac ferries on all routes and in book shops across the country.
