Survey Report for 17/07/2019 - Uig-Tarbert/Lochmaddy
We boarded MV Hebrides with very different weather conditions forecast to the amazing flat mill pond that the survey from Ullapool had produced a couple of days previously.
Fog and a high sea state meant that we didn't start surveying until half way to Lochmaddy. The sea state was 5-6 and as a result very little was picked up apart from a group of 4 unidentified dolphins that raced through the waves a long way ahead of the bow.
In the afternoon, the sailing to Tarbert on Harris saw the sea state drop a little. However, apart from a curious grey seal and a couple of very brief incidental sightings of more unidentified dolphins we didn't record any more marine mammals.
Many thanks to the captain and crew of MV Hebrides for facilitating our research and making us welcome on board.
