Customer update - Latest network update 21 February 2024

Update 21 February 2024

Further to our update on 16 February, amended timetables will continue through to Friday 23 February (inclusive), with some potential additional amendments possible for Saturday 24 February, for the routes listed below:

  • Oban-Castlebay

  • Lochboisdale-Oban

  • Uig-Lochmaddy/Tarbert

  • Oban-Craignure

Amended timetable details are currently being confirmed and will be added to the service status and information page for each route by 23 February 2024.

These amendments are due to the slight extended delay of MV Clansman returning from dry dock, caused by issues with tug availability to take her out of the dock in Liverpool. She is now expected to re-enter service on Saturday 24 February 2024.

We apologise to our customers for the delay and the effect this will have on our communities and those travelling. Thank you for the patience you show while our teams manage the overhaul period with the vessels we have available to us.

Stay connected with timetable and travel information

Please stay connected with us by continuing to check our service status and information pages which carry the very latest information on sailings - and by following @CalMac_Updates on X (formerly Twitter).

Bookings and reservations

If you have a booking that is likely to be affected, our team will be in contact with you.

If you are planning to make a new reservation for any of these routes, our booking system will be updated to reflect the changes. This will be carried out in stages. While this work is underway, it may appear that some sailings appear unavailable, so please do check back.

Update 19 February 2024

Further to our update on Friday 16 February, we have now updated our service status information pages with the latest information on sailings for the routes listed below. We encourage customers intending to travel to stay up to date with the latest information via our service status and information pages and via our @CalMac_Updates page on X (formerly Twitter).

Update 16 February 2024

We wish to let our customers know that amended timetables will operate from Saturday 17 to Thursday 22 February inclusive on the routes listed below.

  • Oban-Castlebay

  • Lochboisdale-Oban

  • Uig-Lochmaddy/Tarbert

  • Oban-Craignure

  • Oban-Colonsay - Monday 19 only.

This is due to the delay of MV Clansman returning from dry dock and the departure of MV Alfred for her own overhaul period, which means it is necessary to make further changes to vessel deployment.

Bookings and reservations

If you have a booking which may be impacted, our team will be in contact with you to provide support.

If you are planning to make a new reservation for any of these routes, our booking system is currently being updated to reflect the changes. This is being carried out in stages. While this work is underway, it may appear that some sailings appear unavailable, so please do check back.

Plans to provide support to services

Uist services

To provide a service to Uist on Sunday, MV Hebridean Isles will operate solely for Uist traffic and will divert to Ullapool to allow freight to travel.

We are exploring the possibility of MV Hebridean Isles carrying out a berthing trial at Uig on Sunday 18 February. If successful, this would allow a potential service to operate from Lochboisdale-Uig. If successful, traffic may be able to disembark if they wish, prior to the vessel carrying on to Ullapool.

We will update customers on this on Monday 19 February 2024.

Please be aware, bookings for the period Tuesday 20 to Thursday 21 will not be able to move on to the amended timetables until the outcome of the trial is known.

Barra and Mull services

MV Isle of Mull will operate a shared service with Barra and Mull. We are currently exploring options to operate additional sailings on Oban-Craignure.

We sincerely apologise for the disruption and are grateful for the patience you have shown while we work hard on managing this work.

Our team is focused on minimising the effect of changes to the overhaul schedule on customers and the communities we serve with the vessels we have available to us. We will continue to keep customers and local communities updated with the latest information.
