Timetable information

Update 22 July 2024

An amended timetable will operate on the Kennacraig-Port Ellen/Port Askaig, Islay and Oban-Colonsay-Port Askaig-Kennacraig routes in two stages from Wednesday 31 July until Friday 9 August and Saturday 10 August to Thursday 17 October.

Timetable for travel to/from Kennacraig-Port Ellen/Port Askaig, Islay

Timetable for travel to/from Oban-Colonsay-Port Askaig-Kennacraig

Following a period of infrastructure works, Port Askaig ferry terminal is scheduled to reopen on 31 July as planned. The south berth at Kennacraig is now scheduled to reopen during week commencing 9 August 2024.

However, we apologise that the amended timetable will still mean the Wednesday service to/from Colonsay will be cancelled during this period due to an onboard issue with MV Hebridean Isles. A passenger charter will operate on Wednesdays until 7 August. From 14 August there is no charter currently available, however we will continue to explore alternative options.

This cancellation is due to several crew cabins being damaged and are unavailable for use. Crew members need to be accommodated ashore, which has impacted crew hours of rest. In turn, our timetable for the period has been amended to allow for this.

The amended timetable which is in place for the period 19 June - 30 July has been further reviewed due to a technical issue on board MV Hebridean Isles. We do apologise that this further amendment to the previously published timetable will include the cancellation of the Wednesday service to/from Oban-Colonsay during the period 19 June - 24 July, however a passenger charter will be in operation on Wednesdays 19 and 26 June and 3, 10, 17, 24 July. It can carry 12 passengers; however, it is not able to carry dogs or bikes. It can be booked via our Oban port office and full details are available on our service status and information page.

Any customers travelling Kennacraig - Port Ellen - Colonsay instead of Oban - Colonsay will be paying the same fare as they would on their normal route.
