Sporsnis
Sporsnis is a community-owned and community-run sports and leisure facility at the northern end of the Isle of Lewis.
Sporsnis will provide regular games and activities for the younger children in their community. Including fitness classes and 'Jungle Gym' after school for younger children; having a stand-alone exercise session every week for pre-school children and gymnastics class for primary one to five.
Making these sessions affordable means running them at a loss, CalMac's support enables Sporsnis to provide the service and enables families to be able to meet the costs more easily.
Sporsnis hope the benefits of physical and social engagement will encourage and inspire a continuing positive attitude towards communal physical activity. A healthier community of young people who have a healthy diet, plenty of exercise and who have the skills to enjoy various sports will result.
