Arran High School Mountain Bike Club
Arran High School Mountain Bike Club began as a community group in October 2014 and their aims are to provide opportunity for Arran High School pupils to participate in mountain biking and to encourage them to choose cycling as a sustainable form of transport.
Young people experience regular opportunity to volunteer and give back to their wider community through delivering free bicycle workshops to their seven feeder primary schools and villages and also through regular multi user trail maintenance in partnership with other community groups. It is this repairing of the community's bikes and trails being supported by the CalMac Community Fund.
Young people are Arran's future and this project gives them a good start in taking ownership of their surroundings and feeling like an important and valued part of the wider community they live in.
